First post in a forum like this, but figured it would be the best place for sound advice. Long story short, my 2009 A5 3.2 S-Line was totalled by a car wash employee last friday when he pressed the gas rather than the brake. This resulted in my car flying pedal to the metal into the car wash, going underneath the escalade in front of it, and pinning an employee crushing his legs...it was an eventful day.
The silver lining is that I've been considering upgrading to the S5 for awhile, and now I have that option. My dilemma at this time is that the S5 has been updated for 2015 and has redesigned rims (that I dislike) thus no longer offering the '14 rims. I've always loved the look of the aluminum accents, but now coupled with rims that I hate, the best option would be for me to move into a '15 S5 with black optic package, or an S4 (which still allows for the '14 rims). What are your opinions on this: Can anyone enlighten me on the rim change for the '15 models? What is the consensus on Black Optic package vs standard aluminum trim? Should I consider the S4?

I special ordered my '14 S5 with the black optic package as I liked the look of the black grill and fog light bezels. I didn't like the aluminum side mirrors on a red car, they look cool on every other color but red IMHOP so the black optic package having body colored side mirrors was the perfect choice for me.

Rims are the easiest to change.

Not true, my 2015 has the Black Optic package shown as an option on the Monroney sticker....

I'm assuming you don't live in the US or your dealer gave you a 2014

My feeble advice is this :
Go with a new S5 with the available wheels you like the most.
Drive it for 30-45 days. My guess is you'll LOVE the car so much the wheels will be a non issue.
Try it.

I do actually live in the USA and my car is a 2015.....

well this is awkward.. despite what Audi's website and Press Kit says mine also says Black Optic Package
