carbon build-up on the valves mostly, and make sure it's not going through oil very fast of course. I'm assuming an S5 - what MY are you looking at?

Does the same hold true for the SQ5 motor?

Default More or less ALL Direct Injection motors.

When port injection sprayed the intake valves with top tier fuel, intake valve deposits were essentially zero after 50K miles.
With DI and EGR and PCV, carbon buildup generally an issue. And it's NOT covered under warranty AFAIK.

I've had no issues with any of my S5's... '10 S5 Cab, '11 S5 Cab, '15 S5 Coupe. From my experience, these are pretty rock-solid cars. If you count bad brake dust, that's about the only challenge. Also, the width and turning circle of the S5 is tough to judge at first (after having a RWD car), so I curbed my rims the first couple of months. Had them fixed and haven't done it since.

Yep, it's the unfortunate downside of these DI motors.

Correct, gummed up valves are NOT covered by the factory warranty.

I'm pretty sure it would be covered under the orig warranty if it caused a CEL.
