Looking to buy a 2012 a6 avant 3.0 TDI Quattro (204ps)
(This is about the EU model, Germany)
I recently had a testdrive with a 2012 a6 avant 3.0 TDI Quattro (204ps) and it felt quite nice. Currently I drive a VW Golf 5 on benzine, but need more space for the kids.
The audi it self is nice and all with about 78.000km, not that bad I think.
I have a few questions, and I hope this is the right forum for it.
1. Will the emission scandal affect also this type of engine? Or is it only limited to the 2.0 tdi engines? I also read the 3.0 is a different engine and the problem should not be there.
2. The dealer told me they will take over any costs if any problems with the emission would come to light. I however would not like the car to be "downgraded" and end up with a slow car Is this perhaps just terrible timing to buy a diesel atm? Should we wait for a confirmation about the 3.0 TDI's?
3. I was first going for a 3.0 tdi multitronic, but I saw lots of people are having problem with this, and I personaly really dislike the "constant shifting" idea. Are the 3.0 TDI quattro engines more reliable?
I hope I can get some answers!
Thanks alot!
The dealer is making an offer that in reality VAG will be making anyway so is not as generous as they make out. If the cars are found to have not falsely undertaken EU tests (the software issue so far is only confirmed to affect cars undertaking the US test regardless of whether the erroneous software is in the EMU of the EU cars) then there will be no need for VAG to do anything in EU. Of course if it is found they have achieved their EU5 rating in error they will need address that issue but as I said at the start 3.0 cars seem to be unaffected at the present time
