Default Window drop on door Opening?

Hi all, just got a 2012 S5 special edition and I *love* the car. The V8 is such a silly great engine and I have had the 2.8, 2.0T and 3.0 supercharged. Only quirky thing is the driver side window drops about 1-2cm when the door is unlocked with the key. When the door closes it goes back up. Anyone know why? Would seem to put undue usage on the window motor.

it ensures a perfect seal with the pillar-less doors!

Perfect, just needed the logic of it for when my window motor dies (just happened on my X3, so sensitive to this).

Default Even more interesting...

… is that when the window is all the way down, when you open the door - it pos up out of the abyss and rises about an inch above the door. When you close the door it disappears again… I assume that happens to stabilize the window when you shut the door to minimize the chance it will rattle and crack...

I recently asked about that... your assumption makes more sense than anything else I've heard.

It does this to let the air pressure out when you establish a seal while shutting the doors.
