12V socket in luggage compartment and towing electrics
Hi all
Does anyone know how the 12V socket in the rear of the allroad (in the luggage compartment behind the rear seats - where you plug the tyre compressor in if needed) is supplied
Mine behaves really strangely when supplying a decent load.
With the engine running, and no load on the socket, it shows 13.8V from the live wire to ground.
With an 8 Amp load on, the voltage drops down to 12.5V which seems a pretty high voltage drop to me. Voltage at the battery terminal is still 13.8V
After about a minute, power is cut to the socket. Initially I thought this was a fuse blowing but then I notice that, after around 20 seconds, it resets and is powered up again.
Then it drops out again
It is almost like there is some kind of self resetting thermal fuse in line somewhere?
