Default The B5 is a great buy right now, no doubt. You can't compare $ to $ because of different markets.

My full exhaust was 2k. My flash was 694, and my intake was 350 retail, 200 in the deal I got.

Add up the prices, and don't forget to throw in the extra 1k for your spare ECU in that calculation. The compare.

We won't get into the subjectivity of looks, interior, v8 preference, etc. (or the superior suspension, stock)

Default now the warranty is out the window, that's easier for me to compare.

how about I let you add suspension and whatever engine mod you can find for your b6? and let's compare again.

So does it mean at Stage3, b5 wins all the way? :-p (against the stg3 b6)

Default Performance/dollar is a good point, but wrong answer

It's not about the money...it's about stock vs stock, chip vs chip, exhaust vs exhaust etc. And to that end, which is the better car.

infamous B5ers aren't completely hopeless now because of the crappy stock suspension that came on the cars...

There must be somebody!


(btw, stage 3 B6 will be S/C'd if it ever develops. I'll have my new car (997? 996 turbo?) by then hopefully as my DAILY DRIVER).

Default Let's call the sc'd b6s4 a stage 3 to get a fair comparison if

your talking the turbo, intercooler, diverter valve and so mods associated with the stage 3 b5s4. Am I missing something and if so please set me right.

Default i did say mod for mod. just take it to the next level.

the curve for returns is just different. B6 start out with more $ and better package out the box is a fact. Nobody is arguing that. But then, after stg2+, it's a whole different game.

Considering how long it took b5 s4 to get this far in modding, the day when b6's stg3 (s/c kit) is out and running as reliably as we are is still pretty far away.

It's like, yours was better than mine was, but mine is better than yours now. And when the s/c kit is out, who knows.

Default Yes, I am not arguing tunability. I am arguing mod for mod. There is no doubt a b5 is more tunable.
