A4 Universal replacement
My son's 2001 A4 had a bad universal
Unfortunately he could not afford to replace the driveshaft (Audi Dealer suggestion)
After much investigating (will not bore with those details) I discovered the 2006 Mitsubishi Montero 4WD Sport Utility front universal is a perfect match except for the cap diameter.
The original universal has a cap diameter of 0.944 inches the replacement universal cap diameter is .985 inches that I purchased from Auto Zone for $8.95.
This replacement is the only one that I know of that has the correct back stop
I used a 1 inch rotary sanding flap (use channel locks to squeeze in down first to fit the yoke). I used a high speed drill to slowly increase the diameter of the yoke to .985 inch and after installing the replacement universal I tack welded in in place
