Guess they changed something from the B5.5 to the B6 (one reason I caveat my Passat comments with how long it's been ); I went in for brakes probably 5-6 times in 80K, and that was fairly typical experience. I also tore through tires (25K max on anything), not sure if that's typical or just me, though.

I fixed my brake dust issue by replacing my brake rotors and pads with crossed drilled and slotted rotors from http://brakeperformance.com/ with their semi-metallic premium pads.

Can't beat their price.

Wow Tech, that's a great price from them. And their rotors look pretty darn good to me.

If I hadn't already went with Adams Rotors, I would be all over that.

Great find!

Any pics of yours installed?

I should have mine up in a couple weeks after install.

I was skeptical at first because it was cheap in price. But I tried them anyway on my 2007 Acura MDX and was happy with their performance and they lessened brake dust. So I got them for my Q5.

Having driven a 2013 Q5 loaner for 6 days while mine was having service work done, I can vouch that the 2013 was much better in the way of low dust. Brake feel and bite felt great as well.

Great to hear. I'm looking forward to my 2013 fronts going on here in a week or so. I'll be able to report back on the difference as well.

I figure a little of the better bite you are feeling is the better calipers themselves.

Yes, but you'll also need the 2013 calipers and rotors for the front brakes. The rears don't require new calipers. See full thread here:

The initial bite is not great(13'). My wife and sister both drove my car & commented they didnt like the brakes. Takes a bit of pressure to get them to grab. Doesnt bother me and there is little brake dust. They are far from overboosted. Cant comment vs. 12' and earlier.

Ugh...OK. I'm still trying to get over the shock of replacing brakes at 24K.
