I got that emerald backup camera for almost 2-3 months now. The quality of the view is nice ( my first backup camera was in a toyota highlander, which was really a tiny screen). The guys at emerald offered to provide me with a list of shops in my area and also an estimate. That was really helpful of them till I showed up for my installment appointment where the guys at the shop told me that this kind of job will take at least 3-4 hours and about $300-400. The guy at emerald told me on the phone that it's a 2 hours job with $170-215 price range to get it installed. This was the only negative thing, other than that nothing bad till now.

Yea it seems the instructions Emerald provided are very broad, leaving out important details... such as how to connect the camera to power, or where to mount the camera's control interface. I can't find any step by step instructions of the process anywhere.

Did you have any luck with the installation?

I'd really like to see an install how-to as well. I'm in the market for this one for my A4.

We planned to get an aftermarket backup camera for our 2015 Q5, but decided to get front and rear sensors. We've had them about a month now and very happy with the product. It's an alternative and something to consider.

I was also thinking of a backup camera for my wife's 2014 Q5, but I like the idea of the sensors. How hard were they to install and do you have a source???

thanks

We had front and rear sensors installed for us by Car Spa, Arlington, VA. Since they do a lot of work for local dealerships we figured their work quality was time tested. Very happy with the results.
