For what its worth: did some reading in the B8 section and plenty of people have been running an afe filter with no issues or complaints for 10-12k miles (more recent posts in that thread too) so i am hoping Thunderdents issues was isolated to his car and potentially the MAF already going out prior to changing the filter.

If I have to replace the MAF due to failure fine so be it. Is what it is!
As you can all see... I'm not easily deterred from trying things out. Must be my stubbornness haha!

I will let you know how things go. good bad or indifferent.
Yeah, I was just saying it's literally possible rather than trying to put stronger meaning behind it. And reminding you to keep a close eye on the MAF just in case it starts gunking up (since then if it does start getting dirty, hopefully you can catch it and clean it out and revert the filter before actually needing to replace it). Hopefully it doesn't cause you issues, but at least as far as I'm concerned more data is always helpful, even if you have data points on both sides of an issue showing that "it's complicated".

Good luck!

I completely hear ya! I think there will always be debate from both sides of the intake/air filter topic. As I mentioned earlier I could care less about any performance gains (hp/mpg) I just like being able to clean and re-use without purchasing another filter. On a turbo car there is very little benefit to doing much to the intake side esp. on a stock motor. On my jetta I ran an intake, and a k&n oiled panel filter and obviously the stock filter and the only difference was some slight added noise with the intake, never any noticeable differences in mpg/throttle response etc. Oh and no MAF issues haha

Nothing that exciting but a little update none the less.

Please excuse the dirty car, was raining here yesterday.
I have never liked aftermarket LEDs so prefer to go with OEM wherever possible.
I have had issues with aftermarket bulbs flickering and too much glare/uneven distribution (even with high end bulbs) so for me OEM is worth the added costs.

More OEM goodies. As I stated previously, trying to keep any aftermarket LEDs to an absolute minimum.

in other news.. no issues with the AFE. Probably won't be doing much until after the holidays, although I do have some other parts on order with audi (unfortunately backordered). Probably dealing with the rear bumper first then suspension/wheels, also looking for FL headlights. I am still dealing with the bags vs coils debate. I've had both on previous cars and know plenty of the pros and cons, just haven't made up my mind on what I want for this car yet.
