Default Running 21's in NYC?

i'm looking to possibly get the 21s on the SQ5 but roads here are like pockmarks on the moon so to anyone from the boroughs who are running these on their SQ5s, how's the ride? too rough? do you regret not getting just the 20's? anyone dented their rims already?

thanks.

There are a few of us running 21s around here. I don't regret it as it was a requirement for the HGB package (although I think that might have changed for MY16), but I always intended to get a smaller set of wheels to use for a dedicated winter setup. I definitely have no plans of rolling around on the 21s here during the winter, not just because of the pot holes, but also because of the limited and expensive tire options in that size. On Tire Rack, there was only one non-summer tire option unless you want to run a non-stock size.

I couldn't find anything that wasn't summer performance tire anywhere, including tire rack.

What did you find?

May have to look for winter rims/tires.
The roads here took a beating this winter.

The Pirelli Scorpion Winter had been available in that size on Tire Rack until about a week ago. I'm guessing they won't be back in stock though until we get closer to winter.

Here's a listing for a used set: https://newhaven.craigslist.org/pts/4952231358.html

21" are fine in NYC. Just be sure to have a wheel straightening specialist on retainer.

I have the 21's on my wife's car. I run those 9 months of the year and purchased a set of 20's on all-season tires from Discounttiredirect.com for the brutal New York winter months.
