update navigation
Hi,
I have a 2012 Q5 and I'd like to update the navigation. I'm having trouble finding any decent information. Can any suggest anything to help?
Thanks,

If you're talking about updating the map data and you have MMI 3G Nav, only the dealer can sell and install it. It's not inexpensive - figure somewhere around $350-$400.

I was quoted $450 for a map update when I brought my 2012 in for the 35K service. They said the update should be released some time around June/July. That's way overpriced compared to my other cars. The map update for my XK was only $199. Can't say I understand what's so special about Audi that it would cost more than twice that of Jaguar.

I have a complete set for Europe
Although you can buy upgrades you need to know the procedure and activation
because it you can to damage your MMI. Repair is expensive

Since Garmin and Magellan and Trimble all can sell you "lifetime" updates that are refreshed 4x yearly...Having to pay $300 or more to a dealer for maps that are two years out of date or three years delayed is really just nonsense. It is what you have to pay if you want "installed", but it is still outrageous.
Buying a bigger phone or a 10" tablet and letting it run Google Maps (updated daily) and Waze...Mayb not be "built in" but it will be up to date. Even a year after you buy it, when Audi will be outdated and unable to update with anything better.
