DMV changed my model from SQ5 to Q5
My registration now shows Q5 instead of SQ5.
Online VIN number lookup also returns Q5. :-(
Am I alone?

I wonder if that effects insurance premium. A Q5 will probably be cheaper to insure than an SQ5. Obviously the car is still an SQ5, but wonder if you can convince insurance that it's a Q5 haha.

I'd go back to DMV and get it straightened out. Legally, the paperwork could get tricky when it comes time to sell your SQ5. When I titled my Q5, the DMV changed an "A" to "1" on the title. I went back to the supervisor and she couldn't believe it, until she pulled up a photocopy of the MSO in her computer. Cost me an hour of my time, but had no choice. Kinda hard to sell a vehicle without a matching title...

In fact, I noticed the change when I received my new registration from the SAAQ (the equivalent of the DMV here in Quebec). I'm pretty sure it's not them who actually did the change. Some online tools also report my car as a Q5. And I'm also pretty sure online tools don't query bureau of registrations (DMV/SAAQ/...) since some tools that work with invalid VIN (the last 6 digits can be anything) also return it as a Q5. So they must simply decode the VIN. So any SQ5 with a VIN starting by WA1LGCFP is now a Q5! :-(
By the way, the value of my car definitely took a drop. Here in Quebec, we have a special taxe for vehicle over $40k. I had to pay it last year (car value was 60k) but not this year! :-(
Who administer the VIN database used by bureau of registrations, insurance companies and resellers so I can know who did the change, why and how to have this fixed? I will definitely make some calls Monday....

Claims and insurance all go by VIN. The words used to describe are largely irrelevant. DMV could truly care less...an SQ5 is a Q5 just as an S4 is an A4. Just like they don't make a distinction between glacier white and ibis white...to DMV it's just white. Broad strokes instead of fine details.
