2007-2012 Audi Q7 Recalled
#4
Hey Marioec, I have to get this fixed ASAP. I smell gas everywhere, I know this is the cause. I am curious, I know you were covered under warranty, but how much would of the fix been to install that rubber band on the fuel pump flange? TY!

I'm not sure it was covered under warranty

The recall campaign just came out on the 17th and 18th. I spoke with one of the service writers at the dealership we use, he was not yet made aware of the campaign. So, he did a bit of research on it with me on the phone, and basically Audi has 60 days to get the parts distributed to all of the dealerships/warehouses. At that point, the actual work can commence. He said to make sure AoA has my name/address on record for both of my Q7's, but he did mention that they pull records from the DMV/BMV when titles are issued. He also told me to check back with them periodically as that may be faster than waiting on paperwork from AoA to get our Q's in for the repair since we are 1.5hrs from the dealership.

Funny thing happened to me.....2 weeks before i received the recall letter, i started to smell faint gas and thought nothing of it. It eventually got worse and worse and i got the letter last week. I called my dealer and told them my concerns, even though i drive a 07 Q7 sline with 128k miles on it. They told me they couldn't do any repairs because Audi didnt have any parts available at the moment. They suggested i call AOA and maybe they could help.
Long story short, i called AOA and they said they couldnt do anything either. I was very nice and cordial with the CSR and requested a call back from a manager. 2 hours later, my dealer called me and said AOA sent him an email and they would replace my fuel pump with a non-updated version to stop the gas leak and then when the updated part came in, they would install it. Best of all, they gave me a brand new 2017 q7 as a loaner.
So, if anyone is smelling gas and need to have a fix before the part comes in, i would suggest contacting AOA and they might be able to help you out like they helped me.
Just wanted to share my experience with y'all. AOA actually came through for me in this instance.

My 4.2 is scheduled in early December. I have not scheduled the 3.6 yet. Dealer had zero issue scheduling ahead of time, even though parts won't be available until December 1st I believe.

Smell for 2 years

I just had my recall inspected and, surprise, they happened to have the parts needed still in stock. Got repaired today during the inspection not at a later scheduled time as they initially suggested. I too had thought i noticed a faint gasoline smell when in the garage. But all fixed up according to the dealer.
Hope it goes well and simply for all of you.
