5 vs 7 seat difference in trunk capacity?

Third row down, none that I know of. When I was looking to pick up our second Q7, several original owners had optioned to remove the third row (silly!). I just gives you a flatter floor with out the "hole" in the middle for the third row seat-back hinge.

Also, at least on my Q you can adjust the 2nd row to give additional room if required (without flattening the seat backs) - makes it possible to actually sit in the 3rd row seats if you are about average height.

Correct, 2nd row is fore/aft adjustable on the 3-rows, I'd assume on the 2-row also (should be the same seats). I have the 2nd row pushed all the way back in both Q7's so there is no gap for the dog to fall down when she's in the back (with the 3rd row folded flat). Last year, we used the 4.2 to transport two co-workers, two foreign market sales agents and myself. One of my co-workers is over 6ft and he wedged himself in the 3rd row...Not saying that he particularly enjoyed it, but it was better than stuffing three bigger guys in the back seat of an Accord (our other option).

My wife bought a particularily long stroller, so to make it fit longitudinally in the back we adjusted the 2nd row a tad forward (still plenty of legroom there). Not many cars could fit a large buggy in this way - I love my Q!
