Default Audi q7 frozen stiff

2007 Audi Q7 4.2.

I'm having the same issue this winter as I did last year, but this time it seems to be happening more frequently. In Alberta we just started dropping below -15C. When the weather drops well below freezing my Q7 refuses to budge if it has been sitting outside unless I rev the motor causing it to finally lurch either forward or backwards.

I initially thought that my brakes were just frozen but I had all new brakes including fluid put in and the problem contiunes. I literally have to rev the motor to 3000rpm as if I was stuck in the mud to get my car "unstuck".

Just to be clear I never use the parking brake and I parked on cleared pavement. Im easily able to put the car in drive or reverse but the vehicle refuse to move. There should be no reason for this to be happening. After I get my vehicle "Unstuck", it drives fine and I have not detected any unusual noises, vibrations or warning lights. If the vehicle is parked in the heated garage the problem stops until the car sits out in the cold again for several hours. Over the last year, the motor has been consuming/leaking a small amount of oil which causes me to have to top up the oil level once in a blue moon. Im hoping its not a transmission or diff problem.

Any help would be much apprecicated.

I would be tempted for a dif and gearbox oil change incase they are going sludgy in the cold weather.

does it feel like the vehicle is in neutral or does it feel like it is being held back?

when you changed all the brake components did you bleed the fluid as well? if it is old fluid with water in it the fluid may be freezing and expanding in the lines pushing the calipers closed then once it heats up the calipers go back to their normal position. (if you did not and you plan to perhaps look into super blue or something more robust than factory recommendation.)

just guessing. hard to troubleshoot without seeing or feeling it.

The brake fluid was change completely out by the dealer and brand new fluid was put it.

When I rev the motor it does feel like its in neutral because I'm not moving and the it suddenly jerks free.

Audi Dealer wanted like $1800 for the tranny and gear box fluid change.

Today I had my buddy to a complete scan with the VAGCOM. There were no faults. Problem still only occurs when my car is cold. If it been running for a couple hours and sits for a bit its fine when I restart it and drive away. The problem occurs after say 12 hours of sitting outside.

My guess would be old transmission fluid, has the transmission service ever been done? The ZF transmission is a weak point.

Find an indy in your area, don't bother going to the dealer unless if its warranty or dealer only.
