the issue is when I plug the iPhone in via MMI cable to 30 pin and the MMI reads the iPhone and inputs data and plays it but no volume...every other source has volume and vagcom shows the cable to be fine. Anyone experience this?

Unplug it and replug it. If your iPhone battery was dead when you turn on your truck it could be a possibility.

nope, not it...fully charged! even had my tech look at it and he was confused...tried a lightning cable as well and it charged the phone but would not read it so went back to 30 pin cable with iphone 4s (now only serves ipod duty) and it reads it and plays but no sound. Unplug the sound and the volume is there from the phone so I know it transfers (phone also plays from a 30 pin dock speaker)...puzzled
