Default OEM Running Boards on Q7

What do you think of running boards on black q7. I found a great deal for brand new oem running boards and thinking about installing them. I dont have towing pack. so they should be easy fit...

Whats your opinion about them?

AudiInSav took a great pic of his q7 with them on;

Thanks

What does a towing package have to do with running boards?

Because it bolts into the same holes as the running boards...A friend of mine had towing package and tried to get running baords and dealership told him they can't install it...But I am pretty sure that you can with some welding

My opinion is that they serve minimal functional purpose. If running boards were necessary in the $70k SUV market for 4x4 capable vehicles that never see a gravel road, Porsche, Rover, Etc. Would be doing it too. Just another option to set you back $600 at the original poor of sale.

I fitted an aftermarket set of Winbo running boards (cost GBP 230) a couple of months ago and I love the way they look... didn't put them on for functionality, just appearance, but the big plus is they protect your doors to a great degree form parking dings (from other drivers' doors) and from gravel/stone chips to the lower door edges/undersides when driving on rough ground.

I'd also be interested in hearing where you got them from too please.

Hell, post back here publicly if they're any good!

I bought them from a private guy for $350. They are like new, oem he said he took it off his car before a trade in. So took me 7 hrs to drive to LA to pick them up and drive back but took me 6 hrs to install them ...real pain, but got it and looks real nice.
