Default Real world mpg?

I'm considering swapping my daily driver A7 for an RS7. What are people seeing for mpg under regular use (not in sport mode, city and highway)? Only review I've seen that mentioned the mpg they were seeing was 9mpg but I'm assuming they were driving it hard.

The A7 is nice enough and the 19-21mpg in regular use makes it all that much better (more for driving range than actual cost of gas). Giving up a couple of mpg for the crazy power and better seats is an easy sell (at least when I can avoid getting on the gas for the smiles). Cutting it in half, not so much.

My long-term "trip computer" dashboard for the 30,000 miles during which my RS7 has been my daily driver shows 18.6 MPG. I am a boring middle-aged male driver who rarely uses "S" shifting (though my personal settings for suspension etc., and mmy exhaust, are Sport).

I am somewhat disappointed with 18.6 MPG as it's only about 1.5 MPG better than my 2007 S8 (V10) achieved over its 160,000 miles (and it was also a better car than the RS7 for my purposes in most other respects as well). Moreover, my 2013 Bentley GTC V8 with the same engine as the RS7 is closer to 20 MPG over the course of its 5,000 miles, though I grant those miles are weekend leisurely cruising rather than daily commute etc.

I doubt that you would give up even 2 MPG in switching from the A7 to the RS7. You would give up a spare tire, while needing one more with the lower-profile tires (until you do the kludge which I and others have had to do, to get back your A7 spare into your RS7). You would of course gain "bragging rights" which I am philsophical enough to admit also does matter to this (middle-aged in my case) fellow geek.

Thanks, that helps a lot. Sounds like your usage pattern mirrors mine quite well and ~18 would be in the acceptable ballpark so I wouldn't be stopping by the gas station multiple times a week.

I considered the S8 as well and as nice as it is, I REALLY like the huge hatch area in the A7. Being able to throw it's own winter wheels in when I go down to swap them out is great and it swallows just about anything I've needed it to carry. I don't drive other adults around regularly and we have other vehicles for long trips so the better back seats in the S8 would be completely wasted on me.

Average NYC traffic gives me an average mpg of about 18.5.

Pure highway driving with speeds in the 65-75mph range usually gives me around 27mpg.

Hypermileaging the car, I have seen 30mpg on the computer too, but not exceeding 65mph or so...
