After I had my brakes done at my Audi dealer (2006 S4) they were good for about two weeks and have rattled since (4 months now) and I had it back to the dealer like 4 times. First time they said the pads were "defective". That fix lasted about a week and back to rattling. Took it back in they said they could not hear it. Took it back 2 weeks later and made them ride with me and I made them hear it. Over any bumps it spuds terrible, rattles like crazy. They applied this red paste behind the pads and that worked for like a day. Still rattles like crazy. When I hit the brakes a little it's gone. No pressure it rattles over bumps. They said maybe the clips were loosened during the original brake job and I might need new clips. $150 installed! The original brake job was new pads and rotors for both fronts. What do you think? Should I go with the clips or could it be something else?

I know it has been a few years since you posted this. Did you ever figure it out?
I'm new to the Audi S4's and I am having the same exact problem with mine.

I have the same too, got the car 2 months ago and I assume it is a poor brake job before. I have not gotten around to that, however I'd be interested in any information.
