Default "Cylinder Misfire Detected" as well as "EGT sensor: short to ground"...help?

This all started a few weeks ago on my way home from work where I was accelerating at near WOT (in 2nd gear) and the engine lost power and sort-of stuttered. At this point my CEL flashed for about 10 seconds and then disappeared. The same thing happened last week but this time my CEL stayed on after it flashed. I have since attempted to replicate the issue with no success (or failure, depending on how you look at it).

Now that you have my initial intro of the symptoms, here are the codes that were thrown when I used AutoEnginuity yesterday afternoon:

17862 - Exhaust gas temperature sensor 1: short to ground

17866 - Exhaust gas temperature sensor 2: short to ground

16684 - Random/Multiple Cylinder Misfire Detected

16685 - Cylinder 1 Misfire Detected

16687 - Cylinder 3 Misfire Detected

16686 - Cylinder 2 Misfire Detected

From what I have seen on forums including here, I am thinking it may be bad EGT sensors causing misfires...possibly it may be something else to do with the passenger side bank (Cyl 1,2,3) maybe the coils?

Just curious what input I could get from the knowledge-filled B5 S4 universe out there...
