i forgot to mention, don't forget to use the right kind of transmission fluid. i used Redline MT-90. API GL4, it's a 75W90. I recall never to use GL5 because it is to thin (?) and screws with your syncros.
Also, you want to have your car as level as possible because you want to let the excess come out the fill hole. One DIY article i saw was someone parking facing down their driveway, which was slanted downwards. the front two tires were on rhino ramps, and i guess that gave him enough room to slide under the car, and it looked pretty level.
Also very important, open your fill plug before you attempt to open your drain plug. It would suck to be able to empty all your transmission fluid before you realize that your fill plug is stuck and you can't put any back in
All in all, replacing the transmission fluid is very fun, i did mine around a month and a half ago at around 72k miles. Keep looking around, you're bound to find more thorough DIY transmission fluid replacement articles.
