Default tanny issue, please help.

ok so sometimes it does not like to go into first. i only go in first at a dead stop but it wont totally engage until i release the clutch a little bit. second gear grinds when its cold, and also grinds when i try to shift over 6000k. i know that the syncros are about toast as in all B5"s. heres the question. i have an afermarket warranty and it covers everything except the clutch and sunroof. soo my mechanic said that i have to put down the money to pull the tranny then when he proves thre syncros are toast the get replaced. do i have options while the tranny is open? heavy duty syncros? how much is a b6 3rd gear? what about the extended 6th gear that can do 200mph+? how much does it cost to pull a tranny ?anything else i should to while the tranny is out? please give me all your opinions and or links to to "race" transmissions parts. thanks

Stock tranny is fine. Consider putting in an upgraded clutch if you are ever going to get K04's or better. Worrying about 200 MPH trannies with a stock ECU and K03's is pointless.

Default 200 MPH?

Yeah, fix your stock transmission and don't worry about paying extra to play with the gearing and all that. You will be sinking lots of money into this motor before you have to worry about 200mph.

I'm not saying this car can't make that speed with the extended gear but you're thinking way ahead at this point. Most speedways will require you to have a roll cage if you're planning on doing anything like those speeds (if they'll even let you).

Stage 3 clutch should take care of it.
