Every review I've read (and I mean every) praises the chassis and other minor improvements over the 1st-gen 981, and those same reviews lament the loss of the glorious 9A1 flat-six. The turbos might benefit from more mid-range torque and better fuel mileage, but they don't have the instant throttle response and glorious exhaust note. I can speak from experience, as I have a GT4. The glorious cacophony of sound emanating from the drivetrain when you wind it out is, by itself, worth the price of admission. If it sounded like a Subaru (which is how most describe the new turbo flat-four), I wouldn't have bothered. To me (and I'm not alone in this observation), Porsche has taken a step backwards with the 718, as the changes had nothing to do with making for a better driving experience and everything to do with fuel economy and C02 emissions.

I've heard the new TTV6 around town and at least from a bystander's perspective it has that nasty raspy gravelly noise to it that will NEVER match the sonority of my 4.0TT. From inside the cabin, don't know....yet!

I sold my S6 a year and a half ago and replaced it with a 2020 BMW M5 Competition.

I had been waiting to see what the RS6 Avant would deliver, but it took too long to come to the US market and I just couldn't continue to wait for it.

And, once it did make it stateside, it turns out the performance of the RS6 is disappointing for the price point.
