ECU tune and TD1 on your S6?
I'm close to pulling the trigger on a ECU tune. The only thing that's stopping me is the TD1 code. The APR folks are telling me that they have never had any of their customers come back with a TD1 code, as long as they flash it back to stock before a dealer visit. I've read a lot of threads on ECU vs. piggyback and other threads regarding the TD1 code but I'd like to hear from some of ya'll S6/7 owners. Any thoughts and recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

From reading threads on the other forums it looks like Audi is cracking down and learning some new tricks for detecting tunes. Lots of people have had APR tunes and have gotten TD1 after flashing back to stock.
If you want to avoid TD1 then piggyback is your answer for now I believe.

There are quite a few threads an various platforms. A fair amount of them go to reputable shops to flash back and wouldn't think that they would flash thier ecu incorrectly and next thing you know TD1. It's really still up in there at this point because there are no facts about Audi using new ways to find you TD1.

Audi is able to tell if there was a flash because it keeps a record of how many times the ECU was changed. Even if it was flashed back to stock the computer would have an extra counter change that doesnt reflect the number Audi has on file.

Im all about being able to mod cars and such, but if anyone thinks that a software company(APR/GIAC) can outsmart the actual company(Audi) with brilliant people coding the ECU's, they are in denial.
