Squeaking Steering column
#11
I had this problem. Its hard to describe what the noise was on the internet. Do you notice it when you are parked and you are slowly backing up and turning the wheel? If so thats what mine was and I was going to have them look at it at my 5k service but one day about a month ago it was just gone and hasn't returned. It was super annoying though and did bother me. Sorry I know this doesn't help you but.
Service time is coming up, so I'll have the dealership check it out when I bring it in.

Steering problem
I didn't have squeaking, but my 2016 S6 flashed an error code that said that there was a dangerous problem with the steering and not to drive the car. Had it towed to dealer, diagnosed as a defective steering rack and they replaced it under warranty. Happened about three months after purchase. I have the dynamic package so dynamic steering. All OK since, but noted that the repair invoice that I did not have to pay was $3500. Included 4 wheel alignment.

I'm having the same issue. Start a few weeks. Doesn't happen all the time. Mine has 38k miles. Also starting to see oil consumption and the tranny is getting sluggish with delayed engagement. Taking to dealer

Again, replacing the steering shaft or the rack is unnecessary. All that needs to be done is to replace the plastic collar as I mentioned previously - a simple fix. Just know eventually, the noise will return. There is no permanent fix.
