Top 1 Oil Evolution IV?
I wondered if anyone has tried the VW 502 00 approved Top 1 Evolution IV full synthetic oil. Unlike most competitors, I believe the IV in the name comes from APU Group IV (PAO), which may be considered to be overkill by some given you can meet the VW spec with far inferior oils. That said, better lubrication results in less wear, fuel efficiency and even potentially a slight increase in performance. I know at work, we've found using high-end oils improves efficiency in applications.

By the way, I'm not sure what are the best specs for the oil, but I've recently learned that some oils that meet the API and VW spec are much lower grade than others. I think I need to learn some more, but I thought this was interesting nonetheless.

My opinion you are better off going with a proven premium oil like Pennzoil Platinum Euro. The TBN of the Top 1 is only 7.9 where the Pennzoil is 10.1...so the PP Euro should provide a longer protected package for your engine.

Audi does not say that this oil is approved: https://www.audiusa.com/content/dam/...e-Bulletin.pdf
I would not use it though, but still the company's about us page sounds awesome (I use LIQUI MOLY) so I may think about a change...
Let me know if you decide to use and what your experiences are.

Might still be an OK oil, but I wouldn't bother considering that you can find officially approved oils easily and relatively cheap, for example Castrol 0w40, which is PAO based as well.
