Oil sludge revisited.....
Since I still haven't gotten my letter I called AOA to figure out why. So they sent mine today. I also asked them about the list of approved oils. Turns out that they do not approve the german castrol 0w30(Castrol Syntec 0w30/Castrol SLX0w30). I was kinda shocked, since it was factory fill. What do you guys think. I think Audi Junkie would have something to say about that too.

to be clear...
I know it was not on their approved list, so I specifically asked for it and they said that they do not approve of that specific oil. Are they still on bad terms with Castrol?

Re: Oil sludge revisited.....
the Castrol (made in Germany only, read the label) does meet the VW spec they list so it is an approved oil, the US version does not meet the VW spec and is not. Go figure but the right stuff says "made in Germany for resale only in US)

Anyone answering phones, either AoA or Oil Companies have no clue. SLX costs like $20/ltr if you can
find it in England where it is required for warranty. Topping off with other oil is discouraged. They don't have the protection of Moss-Magnusen Act there either. VW 502 is an antiquated spec that any A3 oil can meet. VW 503.01 is the current long-life spec. Mercedes 229.3 is similar. We are super-lucky to have this oil in the USA and AoA has no clue, few do about this oil. I own about 8 cases and change only avery 6 months, up to 11k miles sometimes. My engine is super-clean and smooth.<ul><li><a href="http://216.239.59.104/search?q=cache:UxKfQn-DrjUJ:www.volkswagen.co.uk/assets/Longlife_servicing.pdf+castrol+slx+oil&hl=en&a mp;ie=UTF-8">http://216.239.59.104/search?q=cache:UxKfQn-DrjUJ:www.volkswagen.co.uk/assets/Longlife_servi

I can get it at AutoZone but not every time. I buy all they have when they get it. It works just fine and MEETS the SPEC
