Default engine out s8 v10

hi guys I need to pick your brain at something before removing the engine I had a code that I don't remember that had something to do with exhaust timing retarding Point not reached.for some reason I thought it was a timing chain tensioner or guide that was broken pul the engine out and remove the top covers everything looks good so here is what we found in one of the downpipes all the material inside the Catalytic converter totally jammed the pipe downwards of the Catalytic hundred percent blocked do you think this could have caused my issue

I'd say its fairly certain that you would have issue with that, as to why its trying to retard the timing i could only guess it was due to the inability to purge exhaust gases from cylinder which would be sensed by misfire detection etc.

Surprised it even ran tbh

Was the exhaust exiting through the gap you show in the second picture?
The blockage looks too perfect to be a clog, what type of material is it?

nope the Gap is after we unbolted it and the material clogging the pipe is the guts from the catalytic converter
