Manual trunk open! Help anyone
My 2008 tt broke down yesterday. Overheated. I'm not sure what the underlying problem was but possibly a coolant leak. Battery has also failed. So I am unable to access the trunk because the switch both on the key and in the vehicle do not work. Weird thing is the doors lock and unlock still. No idea how to get the trunk open manually. I tried locking and unlocking the door with the key and then trying to open the trunk with the key button again. I have also read about about some secret compartment behind the passenger seat in some models you can access with a key. Not this one apparently. Does anyone out there know how to get the trunk open manually when switches are inoperable??
Thanks

Yup, you have to go to the rear, by the rear hatch. There is a small plastic escutcheon that needs to be removed with the key. When you dislodge it, a small plastic thingy will allow you to pull and open the trunk.
This is all in the owners manual.

It's probably to late for this answer, but for the roadster, there is a handle in the compartment between the seat backs. Open the storage compartment between the seatbacks and swing the lid downward. Remove the handle from its anchor, and pull the handle. ( page 54 of the manual ).
