Default 4 digit number after component?

I have a 2005 A6 3.2 and bought VAG-COM with a HEX+CAN cable soon after buying the car. Great tool to have! I have recoded centeral covenience so the windows roll up and down with the remote (my sunroof also opens and closes from the remote now) and used it to recode the CAN gateway after adding a satalite radio tuner.

I have a quick question, what is the 4 digit number that appears after the component name in a scan? It's the 0040 after the 3.2l V6 FSI in the scan below.

VAG-COM Version: Release 512.0-D

Default

That's the software version of that control module. If it changed that means the dealer updated it.
