Default HVAC Basic Settings

I have a 1996 A4 QM and a licensed version of the VAG Tool. Can someone please explain how to run the HVAC "basic setting" function? The Ross Tech guide says to refer to the factory manual; I have a Bentley paper manual that does not have this info in it.

I tried going into the "Basics Settings" screen for the 08 HVAC module, then I don't know what to do - and don't want to trash my somewhat functional air conditioning now that summer is really here.

This should be really easy - right?

Default Read measuring blocks 000 in basic settings mode?...

\ the values shown are run from the minimum end of the postion value range to the maximum end of the postion value range, to learn the end points for the controlled servos. Wait until each field shows 000, at that point, the process is complete. Return to read measuring block mode.

Default Thanks for the confirmation! Got error message

I kind of guessed at what to do and did exactly that. Unfortunately the procedure produced an error code for the temp flap solenoid, problem with the potentiometer. I need to replace the part or take it out and try to clean the potentiometer inside the solenoid.
