VAG COM in Northern Virginia
Hello and Happy Friday.
I would like to know if someone in the NoVA area (I happen to be in Ashburn 20147 but can travel a bit) would be so kind as to help me confirm/deny a questionable $129 dealership diagnostic.
History
1. Steady "Air Bag" light on
2. FAQ indicated Clock Spring/Canceling Ring malfunction
3. Purchased a used eBay Clock Spring from the same make year and model A6
4. Had the part installed by VA Tire and Auto
5. The "Air Bag" light is out
but now I have the following codes and dash lights which are most likely the result of the installation of the Clock Spring:
1. 00788 steering angle sender (g85)
2. 01044 control unit incorrectly coded
3. 01426 operating unit steering wheel (e221)
4. flashing "Brake" light
5. solid "ABS" light
6. solid "ESP" light
7. intermittent beeping when the engine is on.
I took her to a dealer to have the steering angle sender codes cleared and was told instead that my ABS Control Module needs to be replaced at the tune of $2,000.
I'm going to pull my steering wheel this weekend to make sure the Clock Spring was installed correctly. But before I go down the rabbit hole of replacing my ABS parts, I would like to make sure it's the problem.
Many thanks in advance.
