No it doesn't bubble over the sides. I will post a photo. To be honest I don't know for sure if my 21" rims are 9" wide. I will have to check.

They ride well - of course you do feel the bumps given they are 35 aspect ratio. Good traction. They handled OK in the snow.
Cheers,

Blue66 - i have the same issue. I put snow tires on my OEM 20" rims... and picked up some extra 21" rotor style (from the offroad package) for my spring/summer/fall wheels. I live in a wet area, and really need good wet and dry traction - not snow. I had hoped to buy another set of Conti DWS '06... I ordered them from tirerack (based on the vehicle selector online - i was in too much of a hurry to look at the actual tires - doh). Well they arrived as 295/35/21 and my tire shop didn't recommend mounting them. A quick call to Tirerack and now I have a set of Pirelli Scorpion Verde A/S 275/40/21 on the way.

I am surprised you could fit the DWS on those rims. The size of the rims is 9j x 21" ET60... which suggests only 275/40/21 will fit.

1) Are the DWS's working out on those rims?
2) anyone say "NO-Never" for the Pirelli Scorpion Verde A/S?
3) the other option is the Dunlop Sport Maxx... (Not an all season and came fairly worn down on these rims, hence the quick replacement)... Anyone like those? How about in the wet?

They fit fine. My Audi dealer fitted them to the 21" rims that come with the off-road package.

1) Yes they are a very good tyre.
2) ??
3) I have the OEM fitted Dunlop Sport Maxx in my garage - never used since they are summer tyres and I took delivery of the car in January in Chicago. If my DWS wear out then I will fit the Dunlops provided its not during winter.

So I thought I would let you know how the Continental ExtremeContact DWS 295/35R21 performed. They have 26,000 miles now and based on the remaining tread I would say I should get 1,000 more miles. If I had been more vigilant with rotating I might have gotten close to 30,000 miles. Good performance in Chicago driving conditions. Traction in snow is fine. The only downside is the slightly harsh ride that you would expect from 35 aspect ratio. So now I need to decide if I replace with the same or maybe the Pirelli Scorpion Verde All-Season Plus 275/40R21 for possibly a better ride. Any advice?

Default Tires 275/45/21

I checked on tirerack.com and there doesn't seem to be a 40 series but I do see this tire in 275/45R21 with 110Y load/speed rating. Anyone used this on a Q7?

I've also seen on this forum that there is apparently an all-season Continental ExtremeContact DWS. I checked the website and see they have the 295/35ZR21 with 107Y rating. Anyone have any experience with it?

Background - today I went to pick up my brand new Q7 from the dealership in Chicago. It has the Offroad Style Plus package which comes with 21" wheels. Despite the salesman confirming in writing that it was fitted with all-season tires I found out when I went to collect the car that it has summer tires. It has the Dunlop SP Sport Maxx which I won't accept for Chicago weather conditions.
I would want to know if this type of tire 275/45/21 would suit in my Q7 2017 ? If someone ever did put these tires please let me know if they are appropriate for my car so i can put them ?

I couldn't find a good all season 21" that fit well. I wound up buying the OEM Audi winter wheel and tire package for my 2017 Q7. I recently sold that car, but still have the winter wheel and tire set if anyone is interested. I'm in the Chicago area.
