Hagerty Bull List

As if you needed another reason to buy an Audi R8 with a manual, along comes the Hagerty Bull Market 2023 list to tempt you further.

We offer this same advice anytime there is a discussion about certain cars increasing in value. Buy what you LOVE not what you HOPE will be more valuable someday. Because if you love a car, you get value out of it every time you drive it regardless of how much money it might be worth. Of course, having your cake and eating it too is also pretty sweet. And the Audi R8 equipped with a manual transmission may allow you to do just that. The Hagerty Bull Market 2023 list just came out. In it they call out the 2007 – 2015 Audi R8 V8 and V10 with a manual transmission as a car that could see future price growth. Buy it for the driving thrill and keep it for the financial appreciation. Not a bad deal.

For those not already familiar each year Hagerty selects ten cars (and one motorcycle) that it feels has the greatest potential to increase in value. And for 2023 one of our all-time favorite Audi models made the list. The engine doesn’t even matter. V8 or V10, they are both great. But just be sure you find one with the manual transmission. Not that the automatic is bad, but you buy a car like this for the engagement. And the engagement you get with the gated manual transmission is tough to beat. But you might want to act fast. This video hit the Hagerty YouTube channel, so the secret is out.

R8 Manual Transmission

Why did the R8 with a manual earn a spot on the coveted Hagerty Bull Market 2023 list? First of all, just look at the thing. When it came out back in 2007 it looked like nothing else on the road. It looked like a concept car from the future. And all these years later the car still looks amazing and will turn heads wherever you go. But the beauty is more than skin deep. Both the V8 and V10 engines are high revving screamers with plenty of power. EVs are coming and they will likely be faster in a straight line. But they will not sound like this. Nor will they offer any of the driving engagement that these first-generation Audi R8 models have.

Performance

engine

A 2014 Audi R8 V8 makes 430 horsepower and with the manual transmission will get you to 60 mph in just a tick or two more than 4 seconds. The V10 makes almost 100 more horsepower and shaves about three quarters of a second off the 0 to 60 sprint. In 2022 even those V10 numbers might not knock your socks off. But in truth both offer plenty of performance for the road. And what will knock your socks off is that driving experience. That is what you are really buying here. Cars like this are just about dead. 2023 is the last year of the R8 and the manual transmission went away back in 2015. So, if you want one, grab a good one now.

As we said at the outset you should buy the Audi R8 with a manual transmission because you love it. And how can you not love it? There are no promises of these cars increasing in value. And even if they do, financial gains will be reduced by running costs. But even if you don’t make money, it is very likely that you won’t lose any money. And what you will gain is the experience of driving one of the best sportscars to ever to have four rings on it.
