Audi World prepares for spring with a touch-up to our 2014 Ibis White Audi Allroad.

Not all touch-up paint is created equally. Some might say paint is paint, but there’s much more to it than that. How the paint dries, how it lays down as you are applying it, and how it sands and buffs out when it’s all cured.

Over the years we’ve tried all kinds of touch up paint, from “dealer” sourced, to off the shelf stuff, you name it. It’s always tough to find a good paint that you like to use.

Enter Automotive Touchup. We’ve seen them before in searching for touch up paint, and when we were approached to try some of their paint, we jumped at the chance. Our poor 2014 Ibis White Audi Allroad has some road rash here and there, and we were happy to try out some new paint.

When the supplies arrived from Automotive Touchup, we were honestly pleasantly surprised by the quality of the products we were sent. In the box we received were: 1 oz. primer, 1 oz. clear, 1 oz. Ibis White paint, an assortment of sandpaper, and the most incredible touch-up tools we’ve tried to date – the Paint Daubers.

The paint itself is the nicest quality of touch-up paint that we’ve ever applied by hand. The color match is exact, and it is the perfect consistency for filling small imperfections.

These amazing little tools allow you to apply the tiniest amount of paint into your repair area. We’re talking use magnifying glasses to see what you’re doing. We loved it.

The paint bottles are glass, and if you’ve ever used plastic bottles before, you know that the caps tend to weld themselves on over time, and they’re nearly impossible to remove once that happens. With the glass bottles, you don’t have to worry about the glass deforming when you have to work the cap to get it removed. Plus they are easier to keep clean.

The paint itself is the nicest quality of touch-up paint that we’ve ever applied by hand. The color match is exact, and it is the perfect consistency for filling small imperfections. Once cured, we could blend the repair to perfection, the repair was almost undetectable.

A bit later on in this project, we quickly realized we had a spot that needed more than a dab of paint to correct a problem that our previous owner had created. There was a small but sharp dent in the hatch above the driver’s side tail light that we wanted desperately to remove. Instead of trying PDR, we decided to remove it the “old school” way. Filler, and paint. No, we didn’t bring it to metal, because of previous experience, but we filled it smooth, and well.

We then received a package from Automotive Touchup with some paint cans full of awesome. We have plenty of experience with generic paint in cans that is pretty tough to work with, but we have to say, the Automotive Touchup aerosol cans are next level. Even without using the add on the handle, the spray pattern is pro-level, and the paint in the cans is incredibly good to work with. The product applies very evenly and smoothly, and dries quickly.

And once dry, can be sanded and polished to mirror finish, or as close as you want to mimic the OEM paint. It even seems to blend well into adjacent paint.

Overall we have been blown away by the experience of using the Automotive Touchup products. Not only are they presented in an extremely professional manner, but they all also work exceedingly well, even for a non-professional user.
