The 2024 Audi Q4 55 e-tron replaces the Q4 50 e-tron and gets more power, range, and a revised suspension, all for the same price.

Though it has pumped the proverbial brakes on its previously-planned all-electric transition somewhat – a move echoed by several other automotive brands as of late – Audi isn’t giving up on electrification by any means, either. Rather, the brand continues to tweak and revise its existing models while also developing next-generation EVs that aim to narrow the gap with ICE for good – and ultimately, surpass it at some point. The latest example of this comes to us from the 2024 Audi Q4 55 e-tron, which is receiving a notable mid-model year refresh.

While it may not look any different on the outside, the 2024 Audi Q4 55 e-tron does replace the outgoing Q4 50 e-tron, at least in name. The all-wheel-drive variant isn’t just getting some sort of unsubstantiated name change, however, as it’s also being treated to more of pretty much all the stuff EV buyers want. That starts with power, as Audi has beefed up the rear electric motor and increased output by 335 horsepower – 40 more than the Q4 50 e-tron. The bump shaves 0.8 seconds off the EV’s 0-60 time as well, meaning it’ll come in at around five seconds flat.

Audi didn’t change the size of the Q4 e-tron’s battery pack, but thanks to the improved efficiency of the aforementioned rear motor, it’s also getting a significant range boost of 22 miles, bringing its EPA range estimate up to 258 miles. Audi notes that this improvement stems from thermal management tweaks consisting of the arrangement of the gear wheels in the transmission, as well as the addition of a water-cooling jacket on the outside of the motor’s stator. At the same time, DC fast charging speeds have improved from 150 kW to 175 kW, meaning the the 2024 Audi Q4 55 e-tron can go from a 10 percent state of charge to 80 percent in around 28 minutes.

If all of that isn’t enough, Audi even went so far as to tweak the suspension of the 2024 Q4 55 e-tron, as well as the steering, which it says improves both handling and response, and it’s also adding a new 21-inch wheel option to the mix. This rather substantial mid-model year refresh will arrive in the U.S. in April, and amazingly enough, doesn’t come with any kind of price increase, as the 2024 Audi Q4 55 e-tron is slated to start out at $56, 395 for the SUV body style and $59,395 for the Sportback – the same as the outgoing Q4 50 e-tron.
