You want to go with the 3" in/out more for the inlet than the outlet.
Remember, you will be combining the stock 2" downpipes into one before the cat. A single 2.5" cat with provide less surface area than the stock dual 2" cats.
And, remember, I have yet to install this (the cat is on its way) and am relying on UrS4's good judgement on this one. I have no reason to doubt him. :-)

I saved the pics cause I did want to do a similar setup. Dumb question though . . .
how do I post multiple pics? I've only been able to figure out how to do one at a time for a post. If someone can help me out with that I'll gladly post them. Also, how are you guys posting pics for your sig line? I tried doing this and it just shows text?

You can use HTML tags to post multiple pics (as well as your sig)....
Check out the forum FAQ because I can't post the tag here. It will just display the pic.

UrS4's exhaust pics, the pics are now bigger
I have a very similar set up to UrS4's except I have a different muffler/tips, no balance pipe, and have two cats. I have been pretty happy with it.
