custom headers
i was looking at some photos of equal length headers on this forum today. i cant remember who they were made by, but the fab was quite sloppy (esp the welds) considering they were made by a company. it occurred to me after looking at the photos that it is very possible that i could make some nice headers in my shop. ive been doing metal fabrication for over 10 years and have all of the tool needed to do it. i would have to pick up a used mandrel tube bender. i saw one that bends up to 1.5" up for sale for 5k, not undoable.
i couldnt help but notice that you all have been talking about how impossible it is to find a pair. and, how much it is to have a custom set made (5-7K!!??).. thats just crazy. i know that it would be a bear to get the prototypes and jigs made, but once they were, i could bang them out..
i would appreciate any input here to help me make a decision. i am quite busy with my career in metal sculpture and custom wrought iron furniture. perhaps i could fit this into the mix. i think i could do sets for WAY less than im hearing..

Why not just buy mandrel bends rather than buying a machine?
I don't imagine that you'll sell enough sets to offset the cost of buying a machine...unless of course you just want one anyways! ;]
