I am running an AAH 2.8 V6 in an Audi 100 C4 Quattro with stock exhaust system.
I remeber reading some where (i dont recall where at the moment) that the stock exhaust system on these engines is very restrictive. I think the manifold was the main culprit.
Does anybody have any info on upgrading the manifolds with other engine manifolds or is it a case of bespoke tubular manifold and then a bespoke down pipe and system?

AFC manifold flow more, but no, the exhaust is not all the restrictive, you may want to replace the cats with magnaflow, the restrictive point is all of the intake and the heads could use some work
