Default heheheh I love it when a plan comes together...

The one thing the 90QS didn't come with is a Audi Sport wheel. I havent owned an Audi without a sport wheel since the mid-ninties and they kinda grow on ya. So today while swapping/transferring parts off the A4 into the 90 I pulled the 90 wheel to check for the possibility of using the A4 sport wheel. Sure enough just under the airbag in the 90 was the coded sticker telling the good news. It said "B5" which I knew then it would be a direct tit-for-tat swap. Don't ask me why a B5 sticker would be on a B4 chassis steering wheel... just more of the mystique surrounding this car.

Sure enough, less than an hour later the 90 had a sport wheel and the A4 had the more sedate 4-spoke wheel. Swap was a piece of cake taking less than an hour to do both. Not one thing was different, ie; same wires, same plugs, same everything. Truly a quick in & out procedure. Even the airbag plug was identical. Nothing EVER goes "this" smoothly. Sometimes ya just get lucky I guess.

Love the way it feels and looks so thought I'd share. Ya just get used to these things and nothing else feels quite the same.

Default Yep, I did a writeup for this... the late '95 90s and later cabs had the A4 steering wheel/stalk

Default and I got rid of the weak seats in the above pic and replaced them with these:

Which shed 20+ pounds for an added bonus. I had the seats mounted about 2" lower than the stock seats so my head no longer skims the ceiling. And they feel WONDERFUL when I did my last autocross.

Default I dont like non-adjustable shells on the streets...

they're fine in race cars but extended trips kill my back. I've spent tons of time in them and they're brutal on long hauls. Stock seats fit and suit me fine and I can adjust them. And I already know the common failure point in the stock Recaros and how to fix it. Was the same issue in the UrS4 Recaros and in the TT and some A4's.

Default Here they are on sparco's site...

My back would kill me in a fixed position chair.

Default I'm very aware of what they are. You're young, I'm not and I don't like them. I've tried...

but stock seats are fine and priced right. It's ok if we have different taste in seats. We're both entitled to at least that much arent we? There is one very special Recaro I do like but at $3800 ea in carbon fiber and adjustable lumbar support puts them a little beyond my means. But it's the only one I've found that "fits" and I'm near a store that has 60 or so Recaros, Sparcos and OMP seats you can test in their showroom.

It's something to do with the "shell" formed backs instead of springs/bands that does me in very quickly.

Default Well, your seats are good. I had what I liked to call the "bench" seat because they lacked bolsters

I'm just happy I don't have to hunch over in the car, and that I get some adjustment for the back of the seat with the stock-like twist dials.
