Default I think you are talking about lower than he is

I've heard people complain about lifter noise when the were still half a quart above minimum. Of course, I don't ever let it get that low. ;-)

Default mine are dead-quiet til I hit a quart low. Then it starts. At 2 qts low they "knock"...

Only happened once as it's a knock you don't want to ignore. But now I use the "clatter" on engine startup as my hint when to add a quart.

Default You're negligent -- all of you!

Just kidding. With the leaks our cars develop, it wouldn't be surprising if we had to add a quart a day. :-P

Default It meets ACEA A3 and VW 505.00, but not VW500.00 or VW502.00

But it's fine for your engine.

Default well you have to remember I went from less than a quart every 3,000 miles...

to over a quart every 350 miles, overnight! Trust me, thats the kind of surprise that can catch even the clinically over-attentive totally off guard.

Default I remember that well

I used to have a problem with low oil pressure when driving my Scirocco hard, and if the oil level wasn't near the max mark.

On my A4 I hear valve tick only at idle and if the engine is hot. Other than that, even the injectors are louder than the valve train.
