Default Mailman delivered two nice things for me today... sorta

The PS pulley appears to be slightly "dinged" in the places circled. The one on the right has caused a very slight indent on the inside wall.

VAP, is this pulley "worthy" for you to lighten and can that slight "dent" be removed or repaired?

I guess that's what I get for not seeing it in person before I bought it.

It's aluminum so no. That and you can buy a new one for like $50 shipped.

I don't see why its being aluminum would hurt its chances of being fixed. Can't it just be ran through a lathe / mill. If that tiny spot was passed a few times with the right shaped tool, while being kept cool, it'd eat that spot away pretty easy.

Just my opinion / $ .02

Default No, sorry to say it's toast. It can never be trusted to run balanced or concentric again...

it might be fine for 2 minutes to 10 years but if it ever let go the repair bill will be high as a serpentine belt and/or pully shrapnel flying about under the hood at 3-6k will destroy anything/everything in their path once the pulley lets go. It can destroy hood, radiator, belly pan, PS pump, belt tensioner, ignition coils/wires, cooling fans, AC evaporator radiator hoses, coolant over-flow tubing, ps cooling lines etc. It's just not worth the potential peril it represents.

I would personally never accept such a pulley as an exchange unit for lightening and never offer one that was remotely similar for sale. Totally counter-intuitive and I think someone owes you a refund and a call tag with free shipping on the next one!

Default Crap... I hoped that wouldn't be the outcome...

I've emailed the seller and have asked for an exchange. They had described it as "Item is in good used condition and functions properly". Now that I look more closely, the two spots are visible but turned to the left and you can't see the damaged wall.

Also, I never meant for it to be an exchange. I was just hoping for you to lighten mine and send it back to me. I knew when i saw it that it wouldn't meet your standards for an exchange.

Was it ever determined if the $50.00ish pulley from Worldimpex was steel or aluminum? I read the responses a few times and there were too many conflicting opinions.
