Hey folks, I have a 96 A4 2.8 12v 5spd quattro. She overheated severly to the point of failure. I know its the headgaskets because there is water in the cylinder. About what is the average labor price for getting the head gaskets done? Hope to hear from someone. Thanx guys.

i work in a repair shop. Just did a head gasket on a 96 A6 2.8. With machine shop fees, fluids, parts, labor, I charged them 1700$ at 80$ an hour. We also did timing belt waterpump at the same time.

21.25 hours for a W pump, Rollers, tensoner, belt T-stat and head gaskets?

wow your smart. try reading. Machine shop fees, PARTS, Labor. 12.5 hours for head gasket job. thats 1000 right there. 300 for a Tbelt/waterpump kit.200 for a full gasket kit. Machine shop fees were 150. Coolant, oil change, another 50ish. yea 1700. What do you want it for free or somthing, jeese.

Im getting it rebuilt for $1,300. All parts under the table. Honestly anyone paying hourly for a contract job deserves the the a** r*pe. But she is getting rebuilt, looking on boring maybe stroking. I have noticed alot of people on these Audi forums are "It will not work because it doesnt bolt directly" how ignorant.
