Oil filter help x-posted from C4
So I am in the middle of changing my oil, and I notice that the filter I bought has the same diameter as the old filter but different length. I purchased a STP S3569
the book said this was the right filter... does anyone know for sure?

They can be different lengths. They have changed them over time.
The recommended filter vs. all the filters that are/were made to fit your application will be different. So as far as it being the wrong filter, the answer is no.
BTW, what brand and model # is the new filter you bought?
