for fan clutch you'll need 12 INCH adjustable wrench *HUGE*
and you'll need spanner wrench. If you can't open it with spanner wrench, you'll have to force it by sticking a screw driver inside the fan clutch hole. OR there is available special fan clutch tool if you still can't get it opened (look at the link).
I always let my mechanic do my brakes, I had bad experience with brakes before.

Special fan clutch tool

That's the 12in adjustable wrench on the top. These are pretty much the tools that I use for everything. There is one more thing I forgot, socket wrench extension will be very helpful.

great question and I give the nod to....
Snap-On (or equivalent) TM737 1/4" drive ball-flex head joint ratchet. Hands down the most used tool in my collection for the Audis.
Hazet 6mm & 7mm flex shaft nut driver for all those pesky heater hose clamps.
Replace those PIA MAF screws with M4x14mm stainless allen head cap screws or button heads and thusly the need for the 'TR' Torx driver bit.
And since you specifically mentioned the upcoming brake job a nice set of metric flare nut wrenches.
A set of crows foot 3/8 drive open end metric is always a good idea to have around.
A dedicated O2 socket and crows foot O2 open end w 3/8 drive.
A ratcheting set of box/open end wrenches is a luxury I've grown to love.
As above but in the "stubby" format
A vac gauge is indispensible
Good set of T-handle allen wrenches and a set of long Bondhus (ball type) allens as well.
An 18" 3/8 drive extension for O2 sensor removal and just to have one solid long one around.
Telescoping magnet & mirror
Long flex-shaft gripper claw
Long pair of needle nose pliars with 45 degree offset jaws.
Internal/external circlip removal tool.
O-ring picks
at least two torque wrenches heavy/medium
Multi meter with wire needle probe
thats the short list while coffee brews
