So tonight...
I drive about 5 blocks down, wait for about 10 mins, and start to drive back when the red oil can error starts blinking/beeping, and my tach goes down to 0...The engine was still running, with normal coolant/oil temps and oil pressure, but the rpm's were not registering on the tach... I pull over, shut the engine off, and check my oil...it was at a medium/high mark all 3 times i checked it...I turned the car off/on again, and the problems went away...idle rpm's registering and no error...i drove a few blocks home, and the problems came back/went away one more time. Can anyone tell me what my problem is?

Intermittent is right...
Tonight I went out, checked the oil...still reads medium/high...so i start it and take it for a spin for about 15 mins with no problems...oil pressure was great the entire time...
I didn't realize until tonight that the oil can warning on the auto-check screen indicates oil pressure, not oil level...So apparently I had a drop in oil pressure last night that caused the error...The owners manual states that the error only comes up when the pressure drops below 1.8 bar...At no point last night did i see the pressure even below 2 bar.
Maybe this will help in someone determining the possible problem? ;[

Didn't you say the engine was running but the tachometer wasn't registering?
That problem and the oil pressure light and buzzer going off may be related. If you didn't have the tachometer issue, I'd say replace the oil pressure sender, but with circumstantial evidence of an elctric problem, one that is intermittent, I'm not sure. I'd start checking all the electric connectors and wiring before doing anything else.

After changing my oil and driving ~25 miles today...
I believe the problem is indeed electrical, but the only time its happened was under wet weather conditions...I had no problems today at all, in fact, the car was running great.
I guess we'll find out next time it rains~ ;o

Good luck with your electric bug
You'll likely start pulling your hair out over it. As I said, I'd check all connectors for corrosion and if they make good contact. Arm yourself with an electric contact cleaner (Radio Shock) and a continuity meter with probes. And bring patience. Lots of patience!
