Default Stripped Hex Bolts on Crankshaft/Vibration Damper

Son of a b**ch who changed the timing belt last must have used a friggen impact wrench to put the hex bolts in... so I ended up stripping 2 of the eight.

Just wondering if anyone had some ideas outside the normal stuff

I'm gonna try vise grips first, then try to slot the head of the bolts with a dremel, and if that doesn't work I'll use either a drill bit or cone sanding bit on the dremel (any opinions on which might be better?).

So in retrospect I guess I don't have any big question... I just want to kill whoever did the job last.

Default Skip them and pull the large center bolt instead.

Not too late to do it that way.

I perfer the way MikTip suggested, I call the turbo twist sockets, not sure of the actual name but just hammer the one that fits closest over the outside diameter of the stripped socket and it should come right out, then just replace however many bolts are needed. those things are a lifesaver

This happened to me 2 weekends ago when i did my timing belt job. I used a screw extractor. It worked sweetly. Take one of the hex bolts down to the hardware store and get one that doesnt quite bottom out in the head. I was able to free the stripped bolts without having to take the front of the car apart.
