Default is there a way to bypass the camshaft position sensor ....

i'm picking up a 100S that will turn over but will not fire up. I've searched and think that the problem is the camshaft position sensor is no good. I have to get the car out of the guys yard and rather than doing the work in his driveway was wondering if the CPS could be bypassed in order to get the car started, and once bypassed if the car would be able to run.

i do have a bentley and know the procedure to check and/or replace the CPS but want a quick fix just to move the car without towing.

Default The only way to "bypass" the cam sensor is with a...

tow truck.

Default well i guess i'll run the diagnostic on it in his driveway and if it's bad

i'll order the replacement and swap it out right there.

thanks - i wasn't too optomistic about finding a way around it anyway, but figured i'd give it a shot.

Default What year? Talking a 5cyl?

The crank position ref sensor can't be bypassed but it is fairly easy to change. The ECU looks for a signal from the hall sensor on the dizzy and a signal from the crank ref sensor. Either one missing = no spark.

I'm on the 5k forum if you need more info.
