the straight grinder.
Worked perfectly.

i picked up the one from sears... but from ebay...
think i got it for $30 or something like that. Need to get an adjustable throttle as well. Harbor Freight has them, but I ended up picking up a dremel pedal for $10 or $12 from ebay. Never used it for the IM or head workshop since I sold the head off I was gonna use... I did use it to P&P the head for my 4000 turbo motor though, and it worked great! But def get ear protection cuz that b!tch is loud after a while.

It's not a "paint" in the classic sense. It's a General Electric patented product called "Glyptal"..
but rather than grease up, bend over and back into the forum with any further explanation I'll defer to the more literately gifted to describe what it was originally designed to do and the benefits associated with its use.

While I didn't buy these specifically for the workshop they're what I have around...
<center><img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/711/grindingstation.jpg"></center><p>
to do things "like" the workshop projects.
This is my portable grinding station that utilizes 2 Foredom flexshaft grinders with high-torque motors. 1 is an AC and the other is a DC (AC-DC converter) motor. The AC is 24,000RPM 1/3 HP with gobs of torque. The DC is a 20,000RPM 1/2HP motor with almost 5 times the torque of the AC Foredom. Then there's the venerable Dremel w/flexshaft and a cordless Dremel. There's also another "pistol grip" cordless Dremel thats out of sight and a table mount pivoting Dremel flexshaft on my workbench.
Dremel's are worthless for jobs like IM's and little more than toys but good for thousands of lightweight jobs and polishing.

Now, if you wanna get REALLY serious about grinding...
<center><img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/711/rotofera.jpg"></center><p>
There is the Rotofera, made in Sweden flexshaft grinder. This is a SERIOUS 1.5" diameter flexshaft grinder, polisher, buffer. This started life as a 22 speed, manual gearbox that I converted to digital/infinate speed control in EVERY gear. It'll run from less than 1 revolution per minute to over 28,000RPM. Its just under 10HP and enough torque to cut a diesel locomotive in half in under an hour. You simply cannot stop it, slow it or over load it by hand!
This makes short work of any grinding project but will have you up to your thighs in ground off material in less than 10 minutes. Has HUGE voltage and amp needs so will likely require some breaker box mods before using in any home shop.
But, when you care enough to own the "very finest" nothing else comes close!
